The Global Summit on the Effectiveness of Spinal Manipulation for the Prevention and Management of Non-Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Focus on Patients and the Public is taking place September 14-15 at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
The Global Summit has attracted scientists, academics and researchers from around the world. Organised by Professors Pierre Côté, Jan Hartvigsen, Charlotte Leboeuf-Yde and Iben Axén, the Global Summit will focus on appraising the scientific evidence for treatments commonly used by chiropractors for non-MSK conditions, identifying gaps in the knowledge base, and answering questions about the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of non-MSK conditions using manual methods of care, including spinal manipulation.
Using a rigorous systematic approach that will appraise the quality of the evidence, the team of researchers will aim to determine whether high quality scientific evidence exists to support the use of manual methods of care, including SMT, for a range of non-MSK conditions, whether evidence is unsupportive, or whether it is currently not possible to determine either way.
In addition to participating research experts, the Global Summit has attracted over 30 leaders from within the chiropractic profession, who will observe the proceedings. These include national association, regional federation and global leaders.
