ZAMBIA APPROVES REGISTER OF CHIROPRACTORS. On Friday, October 4, the Board of the Health Professions Council of Zambia formally approved the formation of a register of chiropractors. The move comes after the WFC was approached for assistance by the Zambia Association of Chiropractors following efforts to develop government relations and formalize recognition of the profession.
The WFC provided the Zambian authorities with a draft scope of practice as well as documents setting out the global status of chiropractic and its position as a distinct profession worthy of independent recognition. Speaking after the announcement, Secretary-General Richard Brown commented, “This is excellent news for the WFC’s African region. Outside South Africa, access to chiropractic is very limited and we welcome the approval of the register by the HPCZ. We hope that this announcement will see greater numbers of chiropractors in Zambia and importantly greater access to chiropractic for its citizens.”
